Niblock attended Build East Sussex’s 6 Annual Construction Marketplace event in Brighton on 24th March 2015, exhibiting alongside ESCC Procurement and Property Teams and their other framework partners. It provided a great opportunity for meeting local suppliers, and simultaneously allowing them to understand the requirements necessary to be considered as part of the supply chain.

Kevin Hartland, Operations Director, Niblock (Builders) Ltd: “These events are always really useful for us as we grow our offer in East Sussex. We met at least nine likely new additions to our supply chain”.

Build East Sussex is focused on developing the construction supply chain across East Sussex, creating work opportunities and providing a wealth of services for local people, the local environment and the local economy. Young people who are interested in a career in the construction and build environment sector attended in the hope of securing placements, jobs and apprenticeship opportunities within the Council’s supply chain.

Callum Miller, an apprenticeĀ who has been on a placement with Niblock, won an award for his outstanding contribution on behalf of the Youth Employability Service: “I was surprised at how friendly and approachable everybody was. I’m employed by TrAC who were exhibiting, have been on placements so far with two of the main contractors who were also exhibiting, and received an award from the Youth Employability Service as part of the apprenticeship. This whole experience has been fantastic for me and really helped my confidence. I love construction and my apprenticeship”.
