TOUGH MUDDER

October 25th, 2015

Our Niblock & NES team took part in the Tough Mudder gruelling physical endurance test on 26th September 2015. Taking approximately 3 hours to complete the 12 mile course, they had a fantastic but challenging time. We are very grateful for their commitment to raising money for the Priory School in Croydon.

Priory is a maintained Community Special School for students between the ages of 11 and 19, who have severe learning difficulties and disabilities, as well as students with Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

We pledged to assist in the development of the Priory’s outdoor area in order to provide the students with a more relaxing and calming environment, in which they can expel excess energy and frustration. A sensory garden will provide the students with an appropriate outlet to release this energy. Connecting with nature improves children’s cognitive functioning, physical confidence and the development of their motor and social skills. The works to the outdoor area will be designed with the students’ individual needs in mind, and will be accessible to all, including those with physical disabilities.

WORKPLACE TALK

October 24th, 2015

Two of our staff members, Alan and Rebecca, were delighted to take part in the Career Week Talks at a local School. The various sessions involved sixth form and secondary school students who have learning difficulties and disabilities, and focused on different aspects of the Construction Industry. The importance of Health & Safety in the workplace and in everyday life was a main focus. Interacting with the students was extremely rewarding and we have received very pleasing feedback from the School.

CROYDON NIGHTWATCH

October 19th, 2015

In collaboration with AmicusHorizon Housing Association, we have donated PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and hygiene products to Croydon Nightwatch, an organisation that works with homeless and other vulnerable people in Croydon. The aid is given directly to those in need, providing immediate relief. It will also help individuals get back into the workplace. For more information on the work of Croydon Nightwatch, and to find out how you too can support their work, please click on the following link:

Feedback received by AmicusHorizon from Croydon Nightwatch:

“…Thank you so much for your very generous donation of food and other items for our Christmas presents for homeless and other vulnerable people in Croydon. Through you we should like to thank the companies that contributed: Niblock Building Contractors, BSW Heating Ltd, TLC Lifs, Tersus… As you know, we are out every night helping the homeless and other vulnerable people with food and clothing. A lot of our resources go on resettling former homeless people into new accommodation, and helping people into work with such things as work-related protective clothing.

Next year we will be celebrating our 40th anniversary. It is only through the generosity of people like you that we are able to continue doing the work we do…”
