18-22 April 2016 is RB Week! As a Responsible Business we are committed to supporting the people around us…

Community Support

Whilst helping to build cohesive and successful communities, we focus on engaging with them and helping them to develop and flourish. Supporting residents lies at the heart of Niblock and we actively champion community-led initiatives and encourage all of our employees to support these schemes and help tackle local social issues. We are also dedicated to working closely with a local community special school to provide support to young people with learning difficulties, and aim to increase their post-education work aspirations. Providing work experience placements, delivering school talks and fundraising has been very rewarding for all of the individuals involved.

Our People

We are committed to making Niblock an enjoyable and fulfilling place to work. We focus on engaging with our employees and actively encourage them to share their ideas for the business and their own personal development. Our investment in skill and leadership training and development incorporates all types of professional skills. We provide bespoke training programmes for staff who wish to achieve a professional level of qualification.

By ensuring that Niblock is a rewarding place to work, we retain talented individuals. Indeed, we take pride in the fact that we have an average tenure of employment amongst our management staff of 17 years. Two employees began their careers with us as apprentices, and have risen to hold senior positions in the company over the course of 25 years. We also actively seek to recruit new talent who will compliment our diverse and dedicated workforce.

Following our fundraising initiative for Priory Community Special School in Croydon, we were delighted to attend their assembly and present a cheque for one thousand pounds. We are very grateful to everyone who supported us and donated money. The Niblock Building Contractors and Niblock Electrical Services team completed the Tough Mudder gruelling, 12 mile physical endurance test in approximately 3 hours. We are very appreciative of their commitment to raise money for the School.

Cheque 1 Cheque 2

Priory is a maintained Community Special School for students between the ages of 11 and 19, who have severe learning difficulties and disabilities, as well as students with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. We had pledged to raise funds to assist with the development of Priory’s outdoor area in order to provide the students with a more relaxing and calming environment, in which they can expel excess energy and frustration.

We were very pleased that one of their students, who is currently taking part in a work experience placement at our offices, was happy to join us on stage to accept the cheque. Karl has been attending our Head Office each week, carrying out minor manual work under closer supervision. He is currently continuing his placement at NES’ head office.
