  • Guildhall – Demolition of the Lady Mayoress’ Corridor

    Value: £191,000
    Client: City of London
    Duration:6 weeks

Demolition of the Lady Mayoress’s corridor, installation of a sedum green roof, paved walkway with glass and stainless steel balustrade, diversion of data and outside broadcasting (TV) cabling.

The Lady Mayoress’s corridor provided a private link to the viewing balcony in the Great Hall.  From a visual perspective, the corridor obscured views of the Hall.

The design concept was to remove the corridor and install a paved walkway with glass balustrade, thus providing an enhanced view of the Great Hall.

Working with English Heritage, considerable care had to be taken in the demolition process as the corridor abutted the Great Hall.
