Oakwood Court
Oakwood Court Care Home in Amberley Close, Haywards Heath is undergoing a refurbishment and major extension utilising Retrofit technologies to help Sussex Housing & Care provide much needed additional care for older people in the Sussex area.
The extension will provide an additional 31no. new care bedrooms, along with sitting, dining, activity and staff areas. Once extended, the care home will provide a total of 60no. care bedrooms.
Our work will include:
- The partial demolition of the existing care home and phased design and construction of new en-suite bedrooms
- New communal and ancillary areas for residents and their families to enjoy
- Redecoration of living, dining room and corridors
- Improvements to the existing entrance area to provide a reception area
- Laundry will be relocated to the new block
- Kitchen extension
- Provision of 5no. new parking spaces and electric vehicle charging infrastructure
- Retrofit technologies including PV and battery storage to harvest energy and enhance output
- Collaboration between the design team, specialist ecologist and Client to provide suitable habitat and roosting areas for 78no. bats found on site
- European Protected Species License applied for with detailed plans for mitigation, with ongoing monitoring for 5 years after completion of works
