World Mental Health Day 2024
World Mental Health Day 2024
We are pleased to launch our new Mental Health & Wellbeing Focus today across Niblock Builders and Niblock Electrical Services to ensure we are providing a positive working environment for all employees, whilst raising awareness of mental health issues, tackling the stigma of poor mental health and improving positive mental wellbeing among our workforce and the wider construction industry.
As such, we have introduced Niblock Mental Health Ambassadors within the business, organised mental health awareness training for Management and through our renewed membership with Mates in Mind, have ensured all employees are aware of the support services available to them, including access to qualified counsellors.
We are adopting a joined-up approach with the Charity to ensure we are providing sufficient mental health support services for anyone already struggling, whilst actively working to promote a positive culture within the workplace where our team members feel able to talk openly and are provided with the skills and confidence to support anyone experiencing mental health issues.
SEC Conference 2024
Niblock will be exhibiting at the SEC Annual Conference on Wednesday 16th October. This year’s theme, ‘A Call for Action: Delivering Truly Brilliant Homes for the Communities We Serve,’ will address key challenges in the sector. The event will feature insightful talks on procurement reform, net zero, future home innovations and building safety.
With our growing involvement in Retrofit Projects, we are looking forward to attending sessions such as ‘Scaling up Retrofit’ and ‘Tackling Skills and Technology Gaps in Delivering Our Sustainability Goals,’ ensuring we stay at the forefront of the latest developments in this field.
If you are attending the conference, please do come and see our Team located at Stand 8.

For the 8th consecutive year, the Niblock team donned their aprons and dusted off their mixers to whip up their signature sweet and savoury bakes for our annual ‘Bake Off’ Competition and Coffee Morning to support Macmillan Cancer Support.

Maddie Rose Campaign
Niblock are going yellow for Maddie Rose!
We are proud to once again support Maddie’s Day and turn our branding yellow to show our support for the Maddie Rose Campaign, which was set up in 2021 to celebrate the life and important work of Maddie Rose who was committed to showcasing the fantastic array of aspirational careers within the Construction industry for young people.
To help promote the initiative, we are adopting the Maddie Rose Campaign logo for the day and are proudly highlighting some of our own inspirational young team members from Niblock Builders and Niblock Electrical Services. By ‘going yellow’ we hope to keep Maddie Rose’s legacy alive and to further encourage other passionate young people to enter the industry!
International Day of Charity 2024
International Day of Charity is an opportunity to celebrate all the fundraising we have organised or been involved with across the past year and to thank our excellent team for their dedication to supporting vital organisations that provide much needed help both nationally and to local communities.
We are immensely proud to have raised in excess of £10k over the past year and look forward to supporting more charities in the coming months and helping to continue transforming lives.
‘Excellent’ Considerate Constructors Score at Oakwood Court!
We are excited to share that we have reached a key milestone in the Oakwood Court Care Home Project in Haywards Heath, with the timber roof structure now in place and preparations underway to complete the roof covering works.
The care home is undergoing a refurbishment and major extension to help Sussex Housing & Care provide much needed additional care for older people in the Sussex area.
We are proud to announce that we achieved a very impressive score of 44/45 during a recent visit from Considerate Constructors Scheme.
This score reflects our commitment to respecting the community we work in, caring for the environment, and fostering a supportive, inclusive, and healthy workplace.
Congratulations to the project team at Oakwood Court, this score is a testament to your dedication and hard work!

Careers in Construction Month!
In partnership with Construction Youth Trust and Spark!, we are helping shape the future of the construction industry. We have delivered a series of engaging career sessions across Lambeth, Southwark, Hounslow, Haringey, Barking & Dagenham, and Kent to give secondary school students valuable insights into the world of construction:
🔸 CV Employability Workshops
🔸 Employer Networking Events
🔸 Mock Interview Centres
🔸 Careers in the Industry Workshops
🔸 Sessions on ‘How to Apply for Apprenticeships/Degree Apprenticeships’
One recent session involved running a Mock Assessment Centre with five other industry volunteers for a group of sixty Year 12 students at Rivers Academy, where we received fantastic feedback:
“The mock assessment was very helpful and insightful — I learned a lot about teamwork.”
“My highlight was the task where we paired up to talk about experiences and how to relate them to questions from interviewers.”
“My highlight was interacting with the volunteers and speaking to new people.”
