Mock Interview Workshop – CYT
This week, as part of National Career’s Week (6th-11th March 2023) we will be highlighting some of the recent careers events we have been involved with, aiming to help young people explore their career options and providing them with valuable feedback as they prepare to enter the working world.
Mock Interview Workshop – Construction Youth Trust (CYT)
We recently attended the Construction Youth Trust offices to carry out a Mock Interview Session with a group of young NET’s (young people Not in Education, Employment or Training). In this session, the interviewers asked the interviewees a series of questions based around the role/profession they are interested in starting a career in. We were then able to provide constructive feedback on the following:
Body Language/Eye Contact
Fullness of Answers
Enthusiasm
Appropriate Clothing for Interviews
We hope that the tailored and direct feedback has reduced any possible anxiety about the interview process and has boosted the confidence of the young people as they apply for different job opportunities.

National Careers Week
Earlier this year, Katie, our Business Development & Social Value Manager, partnered with Construction Youth Trust to carry out a workshop with a group of sixth form students. The session focused on professionalism and aimed to teach the young people about the key skills they will need in order to successfully navigate the world of work, including:
- Key values as an individual and in the workplace.
- Workplace etiquette and how to uphold professionalism.
- Communication with colleagues and external clients.
- The importance of networking.
“Katie played an integral part in this fun and lively session, introducing herself and the work of Niblock confidently, while encouraging engagement from the young people throughout. We covered a range of topics including how to demonstrate integrity and respect in the workplace and Katie gave excellent examples of how to deal with various workplace pressures all while remaining polite and professional. It was clear the young people appreciated the insights she could offer.” – Charlie Dawson, Schools and Programme Coordinator, Construction Youth Trust.

CV Surgery Workshop – CYT
Katie, our Business Development & Social Value Manager, attended the Construction Youth Trust’s offices on 10th January 2023 to assist three young NEETS (Young People Not in Education, Employment or Training) in writing and adapting their CV’s and Cover Letters to enable them to apply for apprenticeship positions.
Katie worked with the young people to understand the specific roles they hope to apply for so that she could help them adapt their CV’s to give them the best possible chance to gain an interview. She also offered some valuable advice and tips regarding how candidates should conduct themselves during an interview, focusing on body language, eye contact and appropriate business attire.

The Strength of a Family
“The Strength of a Family, the Strength of Our Business”
The old adage that a company is only as good as its staff is never more true than at Niblock. As many of you will know, we take pride in the fact that we have an average tenure of employment amongst our management staff of 17 years!
However, Niblock is also very much a family business. In fact, this year, five pairs of relatives celebrate 150 years of employment between them. Martin, our Managing Director and his daughter Rebecca (Digitial Marketing Manager).
Kevin, our Director and his daughter Brooke (Contract Planner). Marcus, our Senior Contracts Manager and his son Myles (Project Manager).Max, our Contracts Manager and his son Max (Site Supervisor). Steve, our Senior Survevor and his son William (Trainee Survevor).
We are enormously proud to have these family connections and the collaborative ethos that is maintained throughout the company.

95 Years of the Pitts
This year marks 70 years since Her Royal Majesty The Queen acceeded to the throne.
70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom.
We may not ever have an employee match this incredible milestone figure, however, The Pitt family are close contenders. This year, they will be celebrating 95 years of service to Niblock between them!
Myles Pitt joined Niblock over 7 years ago, proudly following in the footsteps of his Father, Marcus, and Grandfather, Bob, who both joined the team in 1980 and 1964 respectively!
With Marcus approaching his 43rd year with Niblock, he is closely catching up to his Father’s impressive 45 years of dedication to the company before he retired in 2009.
We are extremely proud to have had three generations of the Pitt family work for Niblock and are grateful for all their contributions over 95 years of employment. Their continued commitment reflects the traditional values we hold and is a testament to the culture and work ethic within our whole team.
In 2025, The Pitts will reach the 100 year milestone, an event that we as a company will definitely be celebrating!
Fire Door Safety Week 2022
Fire Door Safety Week (31st October – 4th November 2022) is an opportunity to highlight the critical role that fire doors play in protecting both life and property, and to raise awareness of routinely checking the operation and condition of existing fire doors.
Niblock are currently carrying out significant fire door replacement works throughout London and the South East. Works typically involve the replacement of fire rated FEDS, communal and service doors. In conjunction to the fire door works, we have also been carrying out FR compartmentation works and associated fire stopping.

Maritime Roof Works
Niblock carried out high-level patent roof glazing repairs to an office in Chatham Maritime.
Our team of IPAF and IRATA certified technicians carried out the technical removal and replacement of defective members within the patent glazing system in order to rectify ongoing and worsening leaks and improve the drainage of rainwater from the glazed surface. Our team carried out the works out of normal working hours to ensure the building users were not affected.
