Fire Damage Reinstatement in Lewisham
Following a large fire at a detached house converted into flats in Lingards Road, Lewisham, the property was left with significant damage in April 2020. The roof was destroyed and much of the first floor damaged. We are currently carrying out a full internal strip out to reinstate the property for Lewisham Homes, with Murrary Birrell acting as Principal Designer and Contract Administrator.

Tools Down Tea Break
As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, we have encouraged our employees to take part in various activities during the week to help break the stigma surrounding mental health. Today, we invited everyone to take part in a ‘Tools Down Tea Break’ to start a conversation with their colleagues about how they are feeling. Talking openly with others helps to dispel misconceptions about mental health problems and the people who experience them.
Mental Health Awareness Week
As part of Mental Health Awareness Week (10th-16th May), and in conjunction with us becoming a supporter of the mental health charity ‘Mates in Mind’, we have invited our employees to take part in various activities to improve their mental health.
The theme of this year’s awareness week is #Nature. Following the pandemic and the various lockdowns, it has been apparent that going outside and getting some fresh air has a vast impact on the mental health and well-being of individuals. We therefore encouraged our employees to step outside over the weekend, whether that meant taking a walk in the park, sitting outside in the garden or visiting their favorite nature spot. We simply wanted everyone to #connectwithnature. We were delighted that many of the employees participated and sent in photos for us to share!
Mates in Mind
We are delighted to announce that Niblock are joining up with Mates in Mind in order to raise awareness, address the stigma of poor mental health and improve positive mental wellbeing among our workforce and the wider construction industry. Mates in Mind is being delivered in support of the Health in Construction Leadership Group and in partnership with The British Safety Council and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA).
As a Supporter of Mates in Mind, we gain access to support and communication materials, as well as a range of awareness and training programmes – helping us to take a joined-up approach to improving mental health & wellbeing. We are focused on better understanding the needs of our employees, whilst ensuring immediately that all our staff have access to trained and qualified counsellors. We recognise that the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns have had a vast impact on everyone, and now more than ever we need access to the correct support channels.
We will also be taking part in national events, starting today with National Mental Health Awareness Week (10th-14th May)!
Fusion21
We are pleased to announce that we have been appointed on the Fusion21 Building Safety and Compliance Framework Lot 11, Electrical Testing & Electrical Works.
The framework is open for public sector organisations to use including those in housing, local authorities, blue light, central government, education and health.
The scope of the framework covers surveys, planned and responsive maintenance, installation and upgrades.
Phil Woodhead MCIPS, CIWFM, Category Manager at Fusion21 commented, “We are delighted to welcome all of the new suppliers onto the framework, including Niblock Building Contractors.
The tender process was highly competitive and the process has identified the best contractors for our members to use.”
“A further, real benefit to our members and their communities is the social value delivery that is aligned to organisational priorities and can be monitored and reported against for all call offs.”
Waverley Borough Council
Niblock was proud to join together with other local businesses to help Waverley Borough Council renovate a property to create a home for three of their residents who had been under the care of mental health providers.
We were pleased to install a new patio at the rear of the property, along with new secure fencing and landscaping to enhance the outdoor facilities and provide a welcoming area for the residents to enjoy in the spring and summer months. To the front of the property, the driveway was tarmacked and landscaping carried out, improving both the appearance and usability of the house.
We very much hope that the tenants will enjoy their new home and that it will help them as they move forward in this new chapter of their lives.
Nonsuch High School for Girls
Niblock have proudly completed the fast track fit out of the recently built ground floor open space of Nonsuch High School for Girls in Sutton, SM3, which required new classrooms and a sixth form study to expand upon the pre-existing learning facilities within the school. The works have resulted in a bright and modern working space for the students.
