Sustainable Drawing Competition
We had a great morning visiting St Mark and All Saints Church of England Primary and Nursery School alongside Godalming Mayor, Penny Rivers.
As part of our Social Value commitments on our retrofit and refurbishment project in Ockford Ridge, we created a sustainable drawing competition called ‘Building a Greener Future’ to highlight the importance of meeting net-zero targets. With the help of the teachers, we delivered a workshop on energy-saving technologies that could be implemented, and the KS2 students designed their example town.
With donations from Waverley Borough Council and Continental Landscapes, we were able to award eight sustainable prizes to the best drawings!
A huge thank you to everyone involved!

SATRO Mentoring Programme
As part of our Social Value commitment at Ockford Ridge, we were delighted to attend site today and present a cheque for £750 to help support the student mentoring programme at Rodborough School in Milford, which is run by SATRO, an educational Charity, and sponsored by Waverley Borough Council.
Our donation will be used to recruit, train and support the mentors during their time volunteering, as they challenge and motivate Year 10 students who need support achieving their full potential. The mentors will work on boosting the students’ confidence and help them to recognise their skillset and abilities.

Gardening at Eashing Cemetery
As part of our Social Value Commitment for Ockford Ridge in Surrey, a few members of the Niblock team gladly volunteered to help with gardening at Eashing Cemetery.
“Waverley Housing Service would like to say a huge thank you to Craig and his team who worked so hard getting our community garden ready for the Spring. We are so looking forward to having them back when they can see the benefit and get the garden to the next stage. Thank you Niblock”.

🔸 Working in partnership to deliver retrofit at scale and for all
🔸 Retrofit skills and competency: rising to the challenge
We look forward to catching up with everyone and discussing the different ways in which we can continue working towards creating a sustainable, Net Zero future, through incorporating Retrofit technologies within our projects.

SEC 2023
We’re exhibiting at #SEC2023 on 15th November at the London Stadium in Stratford.
The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Reset the Focus’; transforming the housing industry’s challenges into opportunities. We are looking forward to attending some of the various talks organised for the day focused on procurement reform, net zero, and building safety. Given our enhanced involvement in Retrofit and Net Zero Projects, we are excited to attend the ‘Getting Decarbonisation Done & Affordable Energy’ talk to stay updated on the latest developments in this field.
We are excited to catch up with everyone and discuss how we can work together to #resetthefocus on delivering brilliant homes for communities.
MHS Homes Halloween Open Day
MHS Homes Halloween Open Day 🎃
Last week, we attended the MHS Homes Open Day hosted on John Street in Rochester. Teaming up with mhs homes, Kent Fire and Rescue Service, Kent Police, Green Doctors, Medway Council and Jewson, we engaged with the local community to help residents understand what support is available to them, whilst also taking part in some spooktacular Halloween activities!
It was a great success and a fantastic opportunity to speak with the local residents.
Oakwood Court
Demolition and groundworks are well underway at Oakwood Court Care Home in Amberley Close, Haywards Heath.
The care home is undergoing a refurbishment and major extension utilising Retrofit technologies to help Sussex Housing & Care provide much needed additional care for older people in the Sussex area.
The partial demolition of the existing building and phased design and construction will provide new en-suite bedrooms and communal and ancillary areas for residents and their families to enjoy.
The project has involved collaboration between the design team, specialist ecologist and Client to provide suitable habitat and roosting areas for 78no bats found on site, with a European Protected Species License granted with detailed plans for mitigation, with ongoing monitoring for five years after completion of works.
